Rumors is a brick and mortar shop in the heart of Des Moines, Iowa. Shop owner Allison Lyons curates men's and women's vintage anywhere from the early 1900's-1990's with an emphasis on natural fiber and made in the USA. Rumors opened in 2019 and has since doubled in size, now with over 1000 square feet of floor space and 800+ vintage pieces on the sales floor at any given time.
Styles we love the most are workwear, casual everyday clothing, western and classic Americana. The shop also has a case of vintage film cameras, for beginners and pros alike. Within the shop you can access RPM, a vintage vinyl and hi-fi stereo shop owned by Allison’s boyfriend John Pope and his partner Jesse Pace.
You never know what you’ll find at these conjoined shops, every day new (old) clothing, records, and random odds and ends are added. Products range in price based on how common they are and condition, both shops are budget friendly while also catering to collectors. Rumors has a $5 tub, RPM has a $3 record shelf. Both shops also sell rare and expensive items in top condition, and everything in between. All eras are well represented and combined to fit the shop’s vibe, which is relaxed and casual with a hint of boutique.
